Wildlife & Nature Artist
Great to have two artists working together in the studio this week, both with a passion for British wildlife which complements the British Wildlife Photography Awards on show at the moment. Trevor Smith and Val Briggs mainly work in watercolour. Of particular interest for visitors are the many sketchbooks that they have on show for people to look through – a rare privilege – as well as a great selection of finished works.
Chuffed and amazed that my little grey seal pup (watercolour) has won the Into the Wild award at the 2023 Autumn Association of Animal Artists exhibition at Richmond Station in Yorkshire.
Thank fully not too hot this year at The Exhibition of Wildlife Art on the Wirral, nice to have a red dot after all the hard work creating the artwork. Both that and the exhibition was worth it though. A big thank you to Marion Tuffrey and her team for the organisation. All the wonderful artwork is still for sale and viewable on www.ewa-uk.com
All set up for the Fresh Art Fair at Cheltenham Racecourse from 28th to 30th April One World Imagined with fellow artists Christine Dadd, David Skidmore, Jordon Price, guest sculptor Mathew Duke, Jess Pritchard and myself.
First demo for over 5 months and exhausted after 4 days prep work for a 2 hour demo but I did enjoy the morning with Ledbury Art Society in Herefordshire.
It is always great to inspire other people.
Pictures from top left show initial drawing and masking out to the final removal of the masking fluid to reveal the finished watercolour 20 x 13 inches.
Best In Show – “Things Are Looking Up” by Sophie Parkhill

Runner Up – “Daisy” by Megan Elizabeth
Chairperson’s award – “The King Of The Pride” by Squorn Art
The judges, and myself, had such a difficult time deciding as the standard was, as always so high. I’m always so proud to hang such a diverse array of artworks.

My painting buddy Trevor Smith and I myself spent another very enjoyable week at Nature in Art this August. We talked all day long every day to the many visitors on one of their busiest weeks since 2019! The big draw was not us but the Goldwork Guild we provided plenty for people to look at and talk about though.
